马来西亚政府自2007年起就把5大紧急救援单位的紧急求救号码统一为999，并成立为马来西亚紧急反应服务电话（Malaysia
Emergency Respond Service, 简称MERS），其中包括救护车、警方、消防局、民防部队及大马海事执法机构。

同时MERS也规定所有紧急来电必须在10秒内回复，所以999在大马是最快且万能的紧急求救号码！

999拨打成功后应该要说什么？

MERS中心接线员的问题：
  1. 给予接线员你的完整名字、所在州属及地点，以及想要寻求的救援服务。
  2. 当MERS接线员了解你想呼叫救护车后，他们会将电话转播给该州属的Medical Emergency Coordinating Centre(MECC) 。
  3. MECC接通后会再次确认你的基本资料，包括联络号码、准确的所在地址及了解患者的情况。
  4. 这时你需要做的就是配合MECC，帮助他们了解患者状况。
  • 1. 提供患者的姓名、年龄及性别
  • 2. 简洁描述患者的主要情况，例如昏迷、心脏病、中风
  • 3. 描述患者的病状，例如发烧、呕吐
  • 4. 提供患者以往的病史（如有），例如高血压、糖尿病

*如有条件，也可以为患者测体温、量血糖及血压
*如已采取任何初步的急救措施也必须告知接线员

 最后不要着急挂电话，等接线员了解完所有相关信息并挂电话后才挂。最重要的是即使已挂了电话也是时刻保持电话畅通，因为救护人员很有可能会在抵达前再与你联系，以便能够即时确认地址及病情变化。所以在呼叫救护车后，尽量不要使用同样的电话号码再拨打给其他人，以免电话处于占线状态。
